D.I.Y Tallow Balm

Applying tallow to your skin is like taking a multi-vitamin internally as it contains fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Tallow soothes dry skin and has anti-aging properties. It’s also the perfect remedy for eczema and is safe to use on babies skin too!

I love this super simple and affordable DIY tallow balm recipe. 🙂

  • 1 Stand OR Hand Mixer
  • 1 Double-Boiler or Pot

  • 1/2 Cup Grass-Fed Beef Tallow
  • 2 TBSP Oil (Olive, Avocado, or Almond)
  • 10 Drops Essential Oil (Optional)

Instructions

  • Add your tallow and oil to a small pot or double-boiler.
  • Over medium-low heat, gently melt until tallow is just about melted, then take off the heat.
  • If its too hot to hold a finger in, let cool until you can hold a finger in for a few seconds.
  • Add in essential oil and stir well (optional step).
  • Let cool either in the pot or your stand mixer until slightly hardened.
  • Mix using a hand or standing mixer until whipped and soft.
  • Scoop into glass jar, label, and enjoy!

Notes

Glass jars are the preferred storage method as highly saturated fats (like tallow) should NOT be stored in plastic or metal. To use: Rub a small amount between fingers to a creamy consistency then apply to desired areas. Use as an all-over body general moisturizer and remember, a little goes a long ways! To store: Keep your tallow balm in a cool, dry place for up to 1 year. If you live in a very hot climate, it’s best to store the fridge.
